All visits to the Animal Care Center are by Appointment Only.

DACC implemented appointment-based services to be able to continue to serve the public, conduct adoptions, reunite lost pets with their families, and offer low-cost veterinary services while complying with physical distancing requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic. The appointment-based service has dramatically improved animal well-being in the care centers. We have seen a 53% reduction in respiratory illness in dogs and 82% reduction in respiratory illness in cats as a result of controlling the flow of people visiting the Animal Care Centers.  Animals are less stressed and are able to receive the individualized care by staff and volunteers. Appointment-based services are supported by UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program, Human Animal Support Services (HASS), the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and Best Friends Animal Society. As the result of the benefits to the animals and people we serve, DACC will continue with appointment-based services.

If you are interested in adopting, reclaiming your lost pet, or any other in-person activity, please email the Animal Care Center directly for more information and to schedule an appointment.

Please note that visitors to animal care centers must wear a face covering.
