Animal Care and Control Announces Transition of

Animal Control and Sheltering Services

 for the Cities of  Baldwin Park and Azusa

The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) reminds residents that effective July 1, 2026, all animal control and sheltering services for the Cities of Baldwin Park and Azusa will transition to the Inland Valley Humane Society and S.P.C.A (IVHS/SPCA) in Pomona.

Earlier this year, both the City of Baldwin Park and the City of Azusa chose to terminate their contracts for services with DACC and contract with the IVHS/SPCA for animal control and sheltering services effective July 1, 2026.

As of July 1, residents of Baldwin Park and Azusa should  contact the IVHS/SPCA for all matters related to animal neglect and cruelty, stray animals, licensing, and other animal control services previously provided by DACC. Animals originating from the Cities of Baldwin Park and Azusa must be taken to the IVHS/SPCA animal shelter in Pomona.

“We  respect the decisions of the city councils of Baldwin Park and Azusa to choose another animal control and sheltering service provider,” said Director Marcia Mayeda. “DACC is working closely with the IVHS/SPCA to ensure a smooth transition for residents and animals.”
