and President Renee Sikand Nominated for
Los Angeles Business Journal’s
2025 Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation (ACF) is honored to be nominated for the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2025 Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship Awards in the category of Nonprofit of the Year. This prestigious recognition highlights the ACF’s dedication to enhancing the well-being of animals in Los Angeles County and its ongoing efforts to provide essential resources and support for pet owners and animal care initiatives.

In addition to this nomination, Renee Sikand, who serves as President for the ACF, has been nominated for Nonprofit Executive of the Year. Under her guidance, the ACF has expanded its impact through vital programs such as Vet@ThePark wellness clinics, emergency animal rescue efforts, and funding for medical treatment and enrichment services at the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control’s (DACC) seven animal care centers.

All nominees, finalists, and winners will be featured in two special editions of the Los Angeles Business Journal published on March 17 and March 24, 2025. The award winners will be announced at the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship Awards ceremony on Wednesday, March 20, 2025.

“We are incredibly proud to see the Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation recognized for its unwavering commitment to animals and pet owners in Los Angeles County. The ACF plays a critical role in sustaining essential programs that provide
veterinary care, emergency response resources, enhancement to animal care at the Los Angeles County animal care centers, and support to pet families in need,” said Marcia Mayeda, Director of DACC. “We are equally proud of Renee Sikand for her well-deserved nomination. As a dedicated volunteer, Renee works many hours behind the scenes to ensure the success of the ACF and its life-saving programs.”

“It has been an extremely rewarding experience to work with the ACF. It has enabled me to see first-hand the meaningful impact we have together with DACC in providing so many valuable services for the animals and pet owners of Los Angeles County, especially during these critical times,” said Renee Sikand.

The ACF has been particularly impactful during the January 2025 wildfires, supporting DACC’s weeks-long emergency animal rescue and sheltering for the Eaton, Palisades, and Hughes fires.
