QPC Top Ten Banner Award (2023)

The 2023 Top Ten winners represent innovative ways to empower some of the most underserved, disadvantaged and vulnerable populations in the County. These projects provided critical care and services during these challenging times. In 2023, the Quality and Productivity Commission (QPC) recognizes DACC at 36th Annual Productivity and Quality Awards as “Rising to the Extraordinary” for DACC Pets are Family (PAF) Program with Parks and Recreation!

QPC Chair's Leadership Award (2023)

Quality and Productivity Commission (QPC) honors departmental productivity and quality improvement efforts deserving recognition at 36th Annual Productivity and Quality with Chair’s Leadership Award presented to Marcia Mayeda, Director of County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control

 

NACo Achievement Award (2022)

In 2022, DACC was awarded a National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Award for DACC Pets are Family (PAF) Program, under the program category of Community and Economic Development. Pets Are Family (PAF) program keeps pets with their loving families. With a focus on providing equitable access to pet care resources in underserved communities, PAF offers low-cost or free pet food and supplies, professional pet behavior assistance, and veterinary care to pet owners who are considering relinquishing their beloved pets because they cannot afford to care for them.

QPC Commissioners’ Legacy Award (2021)

Each year, the Quality and Productivity Commission (QPC) recognizes Los Angeles County’s commitment to service excellence and to improving the quality of life for every resident. In 2021, DACC was awarded the prestigious Commissioners’ Legacy Award for its Managed Intake and Enhanced Placement programs that were implemented during COVID-19.

DACC also received a national award from the National Association of Counties, and a state award from the California State Association of Counties for these programs.

NACo Achievement Award (2021)

In 2021, DACC was awarded a National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Award for Managed Intake and Enhanced Placement, under the program category of Community and Economic Development. Managed Intake is an approach towards animal management that leverages community engagement and resources to achieve the best outcomes for stray and owned pets in our communities.

CSAC Challenge Award (2020)

The California State Association of Counties (CSAC) awarded DACC a Merit award under the category: Disaster & Emergency Response/Management.

DACC was acknowledged for implementing a Managed Intake and Expanded Placement program for animals. This program allowed DACC to expeditiously implement a new animal management practice to respond to, and enhance services during, the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

NACo Achievement Award (2019)

DACC was awarded a National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Award in 2019 for Pawsitive Steps Academy, a human-animal bond fostering program that pairs kittens in need of care with girls at the Camp Scott probation camp.

QPC Outstanding Teamwork Award (2019)

The Quality and Productivity Commission (QPC) recognizes effective cooperation across County functions, departments, and agencies that produces significant improvements in County operations and services. In 2019, DACC was awarded with The Special Award for Outstanding Teamwork to the After the Woolsey Fire: Applied Recovery Planning! The County worked with 20 County Departments and established two Woolsey Fire Disaster Assistance Centers after the fire. For over 25 days, these centers had over 7,000 interactions with fire survivors.

QPC Traditional Plaque Award (2019)

The Quality and Productivity Commission (QPC) recognizes commendable achievements in public service. In 2019, DACC was awarded the Traditional Plaque for their achievement to Hope for Homeless Pets.

QPC Changemaker Award (2018)

The Quality and Productivity Commission (QPC) recognizes Los Angeles County’s commitment to service excellence and to improving the quality of life for every resident. In 2018, DACC was awarded the Changemaker Award for Lyfting Spirits:  Saving Lives One Kitten at a Time.

NACo Achievement Award (2018)

In 2018, DACC was awarded a National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Award for the Pee Wee Program. This program, which began in 2017, is a partnership program with the ASPCA that provides free supplies, training, and transportation (via Lyft) for kittens to foster care providers.
