The County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) provides animal care and control services for all County unincorporated areas, 45 of the 88 incorporated cities within Los Angeles County, and the City of Thousand Oaks in Ventura County.
Unincorporated areas are those communities and areas within the County of Los Angeles that are outside the jurisdictional boundaries of incorporated cities. Los Angeles County’s unincorporated areas exceed 2,600 square miles and contain more than one million residents across 120 unincorporated communities. Los Angeles County serves as the municipal government for unincorporated areas, providing municipal services such as law enforcement, firefighting, animal care and control, trash collection, road maintenance, library services, and parks. DACC provides a full or limited suite of services tailored to the incorporated cities that it serves. By working closely with the city manager and their staff, DACC proudly works to help protect both people and animals every day and in times of emergency.
