ANIMAL STATUS:

  • Adoption Pending – When an animal has become available after the legal holding period but hasn’t gone through S/N and a potential adopter has been given a specific date and time for pick up. The only requirement for the potential adopter is to be present at the Animal Care Center at the time of expressing interest.
  • Stray wait – Animals found without identification not yet available pending the state-mandated holding period.
  • Ready to go Home/RTGH – Animals ready for adoption and available to go home the same day.
  • Available Pending Spay/Neuter – An animal that has completed its legal holding period and in now awaiting spay or neuter surgery.
  • Pending Assessment – An animal who is pending a behavior assessment prior to becoming available.
  • PDD (Potentially Dangerous Dog) –A dog that is being held pending the outcome of a dangerous dog investigation.
  • Quarantine – An animal that has bitten a person, or bit or was bitten by other animal and is being held for the State-mandated quarantine period. Quarantine periods may vary depending on the circumstances of the incident.
  • AP Only – An animal that can only be adopted by a department approved Adoption Partner or rescue organization due to behavior or medical reasons.
  • ID Hold – Any animal which has any identification (license tag, personal tag, microchip).
  • Other Hold – Animals not available for other reasons.
