The Department of Animal Care and Control has more than fifty job classifications to accomplish our mission, employing people in areas such as field services, shelter operations, enforcement services, medical services, administration, human resources, information technology services, fiscal services, and volunteer services.

Animal Control Officer II
Patrols an assigned geographic area, captures unconfined and wild animals; inspects business premises; and issues citations, licenses, and/or legal notices as appropriate to enforce State, County and City codes and ordinances governing animal control.
Animal Control Officer III
Serves as lead Animal Control Officer by assisting in the operation of an Animal Care Center/Shelter and in enforcing State, County and City codes and ordinances governing animal control functions such as animal care, field enforcement, shelter maintenance, licensing, and related assignments.
Animal Control Officer IV
Assists management by providing supervision and training of all assigned personnel.
Animal Control Manager
Has immediate responsibility for the operations of an animal care center including field animal care and control services in an assigned geographical area, or provides management and administrative coordination services for a comprehensive Countywide animal care and control program that has significant impact to the Department.
Registered Veterinary Technician
Provides paramedical treatment to animals in Los Angeles County animal care center/shelter facilities or assists in zoonosis control in the Veterinary Public Health and Rabies Control.
Veterinarian (full time and part time)
As a Veterinarian with us, you’ll be at the forefront of providing essential medical services for the prevention, treatment, and control of diseases and injuries in animals. Beyond that, you’ll be a key player in enforcing laws and regulations related to public health, contributing significantly to the overall welfare of both animals and the community.
