The animal care center is located between Main Street and Broadway two blocks south of the 91 freeway.
*Please note: Victoria Street is the same as 190th Street. The animal care center has a Gardena mailing address.
Monday – Saturday

Services include adoptions, lost and found, licensing your pet, and general pet assistance.
Sundays and Holidays
Limited services.
The animal care centers will be closed for public viewing. The ACCs will continue to admit stray animals to protect animal and public safety, reunite lost pets with their families, and process Adoption Partner placements.
Animal Care Center Manager
Justin Guzman has been an Animal Control Manager with the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control since March 2014. Justin began his tenure with the department as a Sergeant in 2014, as kennel operations supervisor for the Carson/Gardena Animal Care Center. Justin promoted through the ranks to his actual position and has worked in different animal care centers, while completing various assignments including overseeing DACC Licensing unit.
Prior to DACC, Justin worked in the law enforcement field with the South Gate Police Department as police officer and with Southeast Area Animal Care and Control (SEAACA) as an Animal Control Officer.
Justin has always enjoyed interacting with coworkers, volunteers, and members of the public. He is dedicated to continuously learning and assisting the community.
Justin spends his free time focusing on his family and is an avid baseball fan. His family has two dogs and a cat; “Lucy” a miniature schnauzer, “Faline” a Doberman Pinscher, and “Figaro” a domestic shorthair.
Animal Care Center Veterinarian
Dr. LaShundra L. Smith is a veterinarian for the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control since March 2020.
Dr. Smith has a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tuskegee University and is USDA certified.
Dr. Smith is passionate about preventive care education to help reduce shelter impounds and improving the animal sheltering industry.
In her spare time, Dr Smith enjoys travelling and is attempting to visit all of the Disney parks worldwide. When world travel cannot be accomplished, Dr. Smith enjoys trips to Disneyland and dog park trips with her young daughter and with her fur brother Sosa.
