The County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control shares our statistics on our website because we believe in the importance of transparency as a public agency. It is our goal to help communities understand the challenges we face and the impact that citizens can have on increasing adoptions and reducing euthanasia rates.
As you review these reports, please keep in mind that while the Department of Animal Care and Control has made significant progress in recent years, we continue to work towards improving our programs and services. There is still much work to be done for the animals, and we cannot do it alone. We heavily rely on our adoption partners, foster parents, and volunteers. However, most importantly, we rely on you, the community, to help us achieve our goals. The Department of Animal Care and Control encourages you to spay/neuter your pets, purchase a license, microchip, foster, and adopt a pet from our animal care centers.
Please note that the County of Los Angeles operates on a fiscal year basis, which runs from July 1 until June 30 of the following year. All the statistics in these reports are based on the fiscal year timeline.
This report is updated on the first day of each month and contains data up until the previous month.
This report is updated after the end of the fiscal year and provides data for the past five (5) fiscal years. Due to the large amount of data it contains, please be patient while it loads.
