Emergency Pet Preparedness
The County of Los Angeles is experiencing critical fire weather and is under a Particularly Dangerous
Situation Red Flag advisory starting Tuesday, January 7, 2025, until Friday, January 10, 2025. The areas
from the Antelope Valley to Santa Clarita—including the Santa Monica, Malibu, and the Santa Susana
Mountains—are especially vulnerable to extreme weather conditions.
The County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) wants to assure the public it is
ready to respond to evacuations if the need arises but also encourages everyone to be prepared with an
evacuation plan that includes your pets and livestock.
Information about emergency preparedness for animals can be found on DACC’s website at:
https://animalcare.lacounty.gov/emergency-response/. Pet owners can find a list of items to put in
their pet’s “go bag” at https://ready.lacounty.gov/pet-disaster- supply-kits/. A wealth of emergency
preparedness information is also available at Ready.LACounty.gov and the FEMA “Petpared” website
at Are you “Petpared” for Disasters? | FEMA.gov.
About Noah’s Legacy Fund

Department’s emergency response efforts. These services are critical to the communities DACC serves as
it continues to respond to the wildfires, flooding, and earthquakes that can occur. The Foundation has
purchased emergency response supplies, as well as mobile medical triage ambulances, tow vehicles, and
evacuation trailers for horses, livestock, and household pets. The Foundation is a four-star rated charity
by Charity Navigator and has achieved the Platinum Transparency rating from Candid.
