September is National Preparedness Month and we’d like to remind all pet owners to include your pets in your emergency plans. Southern California is subject to many types of natural disasters such as wildfires, earthquakes, and floods. Local emergencies such as power outages, chemical spills, or other events can also disrupt normal activities. Being prepared for these situations will help you protect your pet before disaster strikes.
It is summertime and the phones at the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) are busier than ever. Our communications center team report many of these calls are to complain about barking dogs. “Is this because it is warm, windows are open and more outdoor sounds are making their way into homes?” wonders one customer service employee.
